OGRA cuts LPG price by Rs79 for October

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has reduced the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for October 2025, lowering the cost of an 11.8kg domestic cylinder by Rs79.14 compared with September.

According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the new consumer price of LPG has been set at Rs2,448.33 per 11.8kg cylinder, down from Rs2,527.47 in September. On a per-ton basis, the revised consumer price stands at Rs207,485.64, reflecting a decrease of Rs6,706.78. The per-kilogram price of LPG has been cut by Rs6.70.

Producer prices have also been revised downward to Rs166,185.64 per ton, or Rs1,960.99 per 11.8kg cylinder, compared with Rs172,892.42 per ton, or Rs2,040.13 per cylinder, last month.

OGRA explained that the adjustment is linked to international benchmarks, with the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) — the key reference for LPG pricing — falling 3.78% in September. Although the average US dollar exchange rate increased by 0.23% over the month, the net effect resulted in a reduction in domestic LPG prices.

The regulator said the updated LPG price notification for October has been made available on its official website.

The price cut offers some relief to households and small businesses that rely on LPG for cooking and heating, particularly in areas without piped natural gas supply. However, analysts note that LPG prices remain vulnerable to fluctuations in international markets and currency exchange rates, meaning future adjustments will depend on global supply-demand dynamics and the rupee-dollar parity.

The latest revision underscores OGRA’s monthly practice of aligning domestic LPG prices with international trends to ensure transparency and market consistency.
