PIA secures European Union’s cargo license renewal after passing audit

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has passed the European Union’s cargo audit, enabling the national carrier to continue its cargo operations to the UK and Europe after the renewal of its license.

As per reports, following the successful completion of the audit, PIA’s cargo license was officially renewed and extended until 2028. The EU formally communicated the decision to PIA CEO Amir Hayat and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Director General, according to officials.

The audit was conducted by OGADA, the EU body responsible for inspecting and validating cargo operations across member states.

The validation team carried out detailed inspections at Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports, reviewing operational procedures and compliance standards.

The CAA’s aviation security director coordinated with the European auditors and facilitated the process throughout the inspection. With this renewed license, PIA can now transport cargo using its passenger flights to various destinations across the UK and Europe.

PIA had earlier obtained a cargo license for the UK, and the latest validation further strengthens its operational access within the European Union’s air cargo market.
