More than 40 Pakistani startups and over 80 venture capital firms will participate in the Paklaunch (PL) Unconference in Riyadh this weekend, where founders are expected to hold meetings with Saudi and regional investors, organisers said.
The main event is scheduled for Sunday at Al Faisaliah Tower, with networking sessions planned for Saturday evening. The gathering will also feature senior industry speakers including Dubizzle Group’s Imran Ali Khan, US Mobile founder Ahmed Khattak and Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim.
Indus Valley Capital founder Aatif Awan said several of the firm’s portfolio founders will attend. He encouraged investors and professionals in Riyadh to connect with Pakistani founders during meetups taking place around the conference.
Organisers say the Unconference aims to expand Saudi–Pakistan technology collaboration and create new investment opportunities.
The event comes as Islamabad and Riyadh advance broader economic cooperation. Both countries recently finalised a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Framework intended to increase trade and investment in areas such as IT, energy and infrastructure.
Officials say digital economy links are being prioritised, with cooperation expected in fields including AI, fintech, cloud computing and joint research.
The push by Pakistani startups aligns with wider geopolitical developments, including a recent Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement that underscored strengthening ties between the two countries.
