Government raises diesel prices by Rs6, petrol remains unchanged

The federal government on Saturday increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs6 per litre for the next fortnight, while petrol rates remain unchanged. The new HSD price of Rs284.44 per litre takes effect from November 16, according to a Finance Division notification.

The revision follows recommendations from the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority and relevant ministries. Diesel is widely used in heavy transport and agricultural machinery, making the hike inflationary for essential goods.

Petrol is primarily used in private vehicles and small transport, affecting middle- and lower-middle-class households.
