Pakistan, ADB discuss joint financing for digital nation vision

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Wednesday met Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, to explore cooperation under Pakistan’s Digital Nation Vision.

The discussion covered national digital infrastructure, including data centres, network projects, and investment opportunities. The minister proposed joint financing for major digital development schemes and briefed the ADB president on Pakistan’s results-based financing model for the sector.

Shaza Fatima highlighted the National Fiberisation Plan and regional collaboration through the CAREC Digital Corridor, aiming to position Pakistan as a hub for cross-border digital connectivity.

She also sought ADB’s technical support for pilot projects in artificial intelligence, agritech, fintech, and health-tech, and proposed joint funding for high-impact AI and digital innovation initiatives.

The minister said these initiatives are part of Pakistan’s strategy to accelerate technology-driven economic growth.
