The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has successfully integrated 10,858 large retailers into the Point of Sale (POS) system by December 2025, part of the government’s ongoing efforts to document transactions and ensure better tax compliance, especially among Tier-I retailers, which include high-volume sectors like hotels and restaurants.
According to FBR data, 296 retailers were added to the POS system in the last two months, bringing the total number of registered retailers to 10,858 by December 2025, up from 10,562 in September 2025.
This marks a significant push in the registration of big retailers under the system, which aims to enhance transparency and tax collection.
The data reveals that 813 restaurants and 505 textile and leather retailers are now part of the POS system. This initiative is expected to facilitate the documentation of their transactions, making it easier for the FBR to monitor and ensure compliance with tax laws.
The integration of these retailers is a crucial step towards the government’s goal of improving the country’s tax base and bringing more sectors into the formal economy.
