Mama Abdul Qadeer Baloch passes away after prolonged illness in Quetta

QUETTA: Mama Abdul Qadeer Baloch, vice chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, has passed away after a prolonged illness, a spokesperson said.

According to the chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, Baloch had been suffering from liver and kidney ailments.

The chairman further said that his funeral will be held tomorrow in his native area of Surab.

The founder of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, it was Mama who led a historic long march from Quetta to Islamabad in 2013 to demand accountability for enforced disappearances.

His legacy will endure in the countless families he stood beside.” We reiterate that the state must take concerted action to restore the rights for which Mama spent decades campaigning,” the statement said.
