The 18th death anniversary of slain prime minister Benazir Bhutto was observed in Dallas with solemnity and reverence at an event organised by the Pakistan Peoples Party USA.

The gathering was hosted by Ameer Makhani, Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party USA, and drew a large turnout of prominent community figures, political workers, and civic leaders from across the city.

Former prime minister and Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and Khalid Awan, President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) USA, addressed the audience via video link.

The speakers paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto’s lifelong struggle for democracy, civil liberties, and the rights of marginalised communities, describing her as an exceptional mass leader who remains a living symbol of democratic resistance.

In his remarks, Ameer Makhani, Central Vice President of PPP USA, said Benazir Bhutto was a rare, all-encompassing leader respected across social classes because of her genuine connection with the people.

Renowned industrialist Hafeez Khan, a recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz, recalled that Benazir Bhutto visited his home in 2004, marking his first meeting with her.

The event concluded with prayers for the elevation of Benazir Bhutto’s soul and for eternal peace.
