Australia has expanded digital visa services for Pakistani applicants by introducing the Australian Immi App, enabling eligible users to submit passport details and facial biometrics directly from their smartphones rather than travelling to biometric collection centres.
In a statement, the Australian High Commission said the app is now operational in Pakistan, calling it a significant step toward simplifying the visa process. Applicants who have previously provided their facial image and fingerprints to the Department of Home Affairs and hold a valid passport can use the app free of charge.
Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane said the rollout would make visa procedures more accessible for travellers, students and skilled workers. He noted that the app allows applicants to securely provide their details from anywhere, reducing both time and travel expenses.
The Immi App, launched in 2024, has already been deployed across the Pacific and Asia, where it has helped thousands complete visa requirements more efficiently. With its latest expansion, the app is now available in 34 countries, including new regions across the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and Europe.
The High Commission said the initiative is part of the Department of Home Affairs’ broader programme to modernise global visa services and enhance traveller facilitation. Full worldwide implementation is expected by early 2026 for all remaining countries in Australia’s Biometric Collection Program.
