ISLAMABAD — Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Saturday highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural exports, with a particular focus on citrus fruits, especially Kinnow mandarins.
The minister said the priority is to strengthen the entire value chain from farm to foreign markets by promoting modern agricultural practices, ensuring compliance with international standards, and improving logistics infrastructure.
His remarks came during the Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company’s (PHDEC) participation at Agri Expo Sargodha, where a technical workshop was organised. Experts from the Citrus Research Institute (CRI), Sargodha, provided guidance on pest and disease control, harvest techniques, and post-harvest management to improve fruit quality and reduce export losses.
To support temperature-controlled exports, the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) presented its reefer container transport solutions and logistics plans for the upcoming citrus season starting in December.
Jam Kamal Khan emphasised the importance of partnerships between farmers, exporters, and government institutions to build a competitive and sustainable horticulture export base. PHDEC reaffirmed its commitment to work under the ministry to strengthen the citrus value chain and meet international quality standards.
