Customs seizes over 42,200 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel worth Rs12 million

The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, seized over 42,200 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel, valued at over Rs12 million, in a successful operation against the illegal storage and sale of contraband fuel along the Northern Bypass on Friday.

Acting on credible intelligence, Customs teams carried out a coordinated operation under the supervision of senior officers during the early hours to prevent the movement of the contraband fuel. The operation led to the discovery of several concealed tanks and makeshift storage facilities, resulting in the recovery of the Iranian diesel.

The seized fuel has been transferred to the Caspian State Warehouse in Korangi for safe custody, as confirmed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

FBR reiterated its commitment to combating the smuggling of petroleum products, which causes significant losses to the national revenue and undermines legitimate trade. The authority emphasized its zero-tolerance policy against smuggling, ensuring strict enforcement across the country to protect and promote lawful businesses.

Last month, the Marine Enforcement Unit of the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement) Karachi intercepted three wooden launches carrying 132,564 litres of smuggled Iranian High-Speed Diesel (HSD), valued at over Rs78 million, in what was described as the largest single-operation recovery of Iranian diesel to date.
