Din Textile expands solar capacity to 11.2mw in a shift to renewable energy

December 9, 2025
Share0

Din Textile Mills Limited (DINT) said on Tuesday that it has added 3.2 megawatts to its solar power system, raising its total operational renewable capacity to 11.2 megawatts, according to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

The company stated that the enhanced capacity forms part of its ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency. It said the solar expansion is now fully operational.

Pakistan has recently seen growing interest in renewable sources, particularly solar power, across both residential and commercial users. According to the Policy Research Institute for Equitable Development (PRIED), solar photovoltaic installations in the country have reached an estimated 33 gigawatts.

The rapid increase in solar adoption has prompted policymakers to assess its impact on the national grid at a time when overall electricity demand remains largely unchanged. Despite these challenges, multiple initiatives are underway to utilise solar energy as a relatively lower-cost power option.
