K-Electric and DP World have signed an agreement to establish a dedicated 132kV grid station at the Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT), a major gateway for Pakistan’s trade. The project is designed to deliver a reliable 26MW power supply to support the terminal’s expanding operations.
According to both organisations, the new grid station will enhance power resilience at the port, improve operational efficiency and support future electrification needs at QICT. The initiative aligns with the companies’ stated focus on sustainable and dependable energy solutions for industrial activity.
K-Electric said the partnership would help meet rising electricity demand from port operations and ensure uninterrupted logistics and trade flows. KE Chief Distribution and Marcomms Officer Sadia Dada said the shift to grid power showed growing confidence in system reliability and cost competitiveness for industrial users.
DP World’s CEO for QICT, Junaid Zamir, said Port Qasim requires stable energy to maintain its role in national and regional trade. He said the dedicated grid station would strengthen the terminal’s ability to operate efficiently and support efforts to promote more sustainable trade.
