Karachi on Edge: Two Gruesome Killings Shake the City as Police Hunt for Answers

Karachi — a city known for its energy and resilience — is once again in the spotlight for tragic reasons. Two dismembered bodies were found in different parts of the city this week, leaving residents in shock. Police have solved one case in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, while the North Nazimabad murder is still under investigation.

The Gulistan-e-Jauhar Case: Friends Turned Killers

Gulistan-e-Jauhar police solved the mystery of a severed head found near a garbage dump in Pehlwan Goth. The victim was Imdad Hussain, a 32-year-old truck driver. His torso was later recovered from a nearby house in Mughal Hazara Goth.

Investigators arrested two suspects, Mudassir and Ali, both friends and neighbors of the victim. All three were drug users who often consumed crystal meth together. Police say the suspects invited Imdad to their home under the pretext of using drugs, then killed him.

The accused confessed but did not give a clear motive. Officers are now looking into possible disputes or money-related issues. A case was registered on the complaint of Imdad’s father.

The North Nazimabad Mystery: A Body in Pieces

In another gruesome case, a severed head found near a drain in Hyderi was matched to a torso discovered earlier in North Nazimabad’s Block L. The victim was Muhammad Yousuf, a 35-year-old tandoor worker who had recently moved from Mansehra.

His brother, Jannat Gul, confirmed the identification. Yousuf lived with four others in a shared house. Police are questioning his roommates and relatives for clues. They suspect the murder may be linked to a dispute or robbery.

The Bigger Picture

Experts believe such violent crimes often stem from drug addiction, poverty, and mental instability. Social workers urge stronger awareness programs and better community policing. They say prevention starts with early intervention and neighborhood vigilance.

These tragic events remind Karachi residents that safety is everyone’s responsibility — not just the police. Building trust and cooperation can make communities safer and stronger.
