MoITT launches cloud enablement and startup fund initiatives to boost innovation

Islamabad — The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), through Ignite – National Technology Fund, has launched the Prime Minister’s Cloud Enablement Program for Startups and the Pakistan Startup Fund (PSF).

The initiatives were launched on Friday to support Pakistan’s innovation ecosystem and promote a knowledge-based digital economy. The event was attended by Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Ignite CEO Rafique Ahmed Burriro, and representatives from private companies, startups, and government departments.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government is committed to the Prime Minister’s Digital Nation Vision. She said the new initiatives will accelerate innovation, empower entrepreneurs, and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global technology landscape.

She added that the PSF will facilitate young entrepreneurs by converting innovative ideas into viable business solutions. The fund will provide equity-free grants of up to 30% of an investment round to bridge early-stage financing gaps and encourage venture capital inflows.

Ignite CEO Rafique Ahmed Burriro said that the Cloud Enablement Program, PSF, and BridgeStart Pakistan together provide infrastructure, funding, and international exposure to startups. The Cloud Enablement Program will offer reimbursement-based cloud credits through global providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Huawei Cloud to help startups scale and adopt emerging technologies including AI, FinTech, and HealthTech.

BridgeStart Pakistan will connect startups with international accelerators and investors, providing exposure to global markets. During the event, graduating startups under BridgeStart were awarded certificates and cheques for their performance in global programs. These included Motovest, Paymo, Chaajao Tech, InLights Solutions, Sahl, Thingsty, Kashmeta, Edversity, Creative 3D, and Wiser Machines.

The Ministry said the launch reflects its commitment to supporting startups through policy, funding, and infrastructure. Together, the Cloud Enablement Program, PSF, and BridgeStart Pakistan form a national framework to foster innovation and build a digital economy.
