OGDCL starts oil production from Pasakhi-14 well in Hyderabad

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest exploration and production company, has commenced oil production from its Pasakhi-14 development well in the Hyderabad district of Sindh. The company disclosed the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday.

According to the filing, Pasakhi-14 has started producing 1,100 barrels per day of oil. The well is part of the Pasakhi and Pasakhi North Development and Production Lease (D&PL), where OGDCL holds a 100% working interest.

OGDCL said the well was drilled to a depth of 2,183 metres, targeting the upper sands of the Lower Goru formation. The company deployed Rotary Steerable System (RSS), Electromagnetic Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and a nitrified mud system—used for the first time by OGDCL—to improve directional control and preserve formation integrity.

The well is equipped with electric submersible pump (ESP) technology to support production. OGDCL stated that the addition of Pasakhi-14 is in line with its strategy of focused exploration, efficient drilling, and production optimisation to support national energy security.

Incorporated on October 23, 1997, OGDCL was established to take over the exploration, development, and production activities of the former Oil and Gas Development Corporation, founded in 1961.
