Pakistan invites China to boost mining and energy investment

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik on Wednesday invited Chinese participation in the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum (PMIF) 2026, emphasizing mining as a priority sector for bilateral investment.

The invitation came during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad. Both sides discussed strengthening economic cooperation, regional stability, and collaboration in mining and energy.

Ambassador Jiang welcomed the invitation and said Chinese institutions would be encouraged to participate. He highlighted the active presence of Chinese companies MCC and CNOC in Pakistan, citing key projects including Saindak and Siadak Mining.

The minister expressed appreciation for China’s continued support during Pakistan’s economic challenges and reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on regional stability and support for China’s sovereignty.

Ambassador Jiang commended Pakistan’s reform agenda, calling it a positive step toward sustainable development and pledged continued support for Pakistan’s economic growth.

Both officials reaffirmed commitment to transforming the all-weather strategic partnership into increased investment and shared prosperity in mining and energy sectors.
