Pakistan and Kazakhstan reaffirmed their commitment to deepening political and economic ties, enhancing regional connectivity, and maintaining close coordination ahead of Kazakhstan’s presidential visit in November, the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Tuesday.
This development came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Kazakhstani Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.
The meeting, which took place behind closed doors, was followed by delegation-level talks aimed at advancing bilateral relations. Nurtleu arrived in Islamabad on Monday for a two-day official visit, where he was welcomed by Additional Secretary West Asia Syed Ali Asad Gillani and other senior government officials.
During the visit, the two sides emphasized the need to expand trade ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, with both countries expressing interest in enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
Nurtleu, accompanied by a 13-member high-level delegation including Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport, also plans to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit.
The discussions are expected to focus on preparations for the upcoming presidential visit and review a wide range of areas for bilateral cooperation, with a particular emphasis on trade, investment, agriculture, education, cultural and tourism exchanges, as well as regional connectivity and logistics. The two sides are also expected to explore collaboration at multilateral forums.
