Pakistan, Qatar explore deeper investment cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and technology

Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation, focusing on energy, infrastructure, and technology, as First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) Mohammad Saif Al-Sowaidi in Doha.

According to the media wing of the President of Pakistan, the meeting took place on the sidelines of President Asif Ali Zardari’s official visit to Qatar, which ran from November 4 to 6. The discussions centered on expanding QIA’s investment portfolio in Pakistan and identifying new areas for sustainable economic collaboration.

The first lady appreciated QIA’s growing presence in Pakistan and welcomed its interest in ventures that could spur job creation and contribute to long-term economic stability. Al-Sowaidi reaffirmed the QIA’s commitment to deepening economic ties and exploring fresh opportunities for partnership between the two nations.

President Zardari’s visit to Doha was part of his participation in the World Summit for Social Development, attended by global leaders committed to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. During his stay, the president also held talks with senior Qatari officials on bilateral relations, investment promotion, defence cooperation, and regional developments.

At the conclusion of the visit, senior Qatari officials and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar saw off President Zardari at Doha International Airport.
