Punjab launches eBIZ portal to streamline NOC process for businesses

The Punjab government has launched the eBIZ portal, a new initiative aimed at promoting e-governance and simplifying business operations in the province.

As per reports, the portal, which was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, will allow business owners and entrepreneurs to apply online for No Objection Certificates (NOCs) across 30 different business types.

The move is expected to significantly reduce the bureaucracy involved in obtaining permits, as the entire verification and approval process will be managed digitally. This will eliminate the need for businesses to submit physical files or visit government offices, streamlining administrative procedures.

During the inauguration at a meeting of the Administrative Secretaries’ Committee at the Civil Secretariat, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman emphasised that this digital shift is part of broader administrative reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency and transparency of government services. He directed the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to ensure full digitization of all services provided by government departments and associated bodies by December.

The eBIZ portal is part of ongoing e-governance initiatives, including the successful implementation of the e-Filing and Office Automation System (e-FOAS) and e-Procurement, which have introduced paperless operations in government functions.

With these reforms, the Punjab government aims to foster a more business-friendly environment, improve service delivery, and enhance the overall ease of doing business in the province.
