SECP join hands with NTC to bolster cybersecurity and digital resilience

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation on cybersecurity, information sharing, and digitalization efforts aimed at safeguarding Pakistan’s regulatory and communications infrastructure.

The agreement, signed at NTC Headquarters in Islamabad, was witnessed by NTC Managing Director Maj Gen (R) Ali Farhan, SECP Commissioner Mujtaba Ahmed Lodhi, and senior officials from both organizations.

Under the MoU, SECP and NTC will collaborate on key initiatives including joint deliberations on emerging cyber threats, the exchange of technical insights, and the promotion of best practices to improve cybersecurity resilience. The partnership also envisions capacity-building programs for cyber incident response, research and innovation in cybersecurity technologies, and enhanced audit and compliance mechanisms aligned with ISO 27001 standards.

Both institutions will further coordinate on the establishment and operation of Sectoral Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) in line with national cybersecurity frameworks.

Speaking at the signing, Maj Gen (R) Ali Farhan underscored the importance of institutional collaboration in building a secure digital ecosystem. “By leveraging our collective strengths, we can optimize service delivery while ensuring that critical data and infrastructure remain protected from unauthorized access and exploitation,” he said.

SECP Commissioner Mujtaba Ahmad Lodhi commended NTC’s contributions to advancing digital safety and emphasized the importance of awareness and coordinated action among regulatory bodies. “Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and only through collective effort can we ensure the protection of national digital infrastructure,” he noted.

The MoU builds on previous cooperation between SECP and NTC, marking a renewed commitment to strengthen Pakistan’s cyber readiness through shared expertise, joint initiatives, and regular engagement on digital risk management and security standards.
