TCP issues new tender for 100,000 tons sugar

KARACHI: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has issued a tender to purchase 100,000 metric tons of white refined sugar, with bids due by October 6 and delivery sought around November 15.

European traders said on Monday that TCP purchased about 80,000 tons in a tender that closed last week.

They said the state agency bought about 50,000 tons of fine grade sugar at an estimated $530 per ton cost and freight (C&F) from ED&F Man, and around 30,000 tons of medium grade at an estimated $568 per ton C&F from Al Khaleej Sugar.

The government had earlier approved the import of 500,000 tons of sugar to stabilise prices following sharp increases in the domestic market.
