The Organic Meat Company Limited (TOMCL) has commenced operations at its Karachi Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) facility, through its fully owned subsidiary Mohammad Saeed Mohammad Hussain Limited (MSMHL).
This marks a significant step in TOMCL’s strategic expansion, following the company’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) in August 2020.
According to a filing at the local bourse on Wednesday, the facility will focus on the processing of ovine and bovine offals, aiming to produce high-quality edible offals and dehydrated pet chews for global markets, including the Middle East, Europe, China, and Central and East Asia. This aligns with TOMCL’s “waste-to-value” sustainability model, which emphasizes higher carcass utilization and environmental responsibility.
Under the new operational structure, MSMHL will operate as a fully owned subsidiary of TOMCL, further integrating the KEPZ facility into TOMCL’s broader export operations. The plant is strategically positioned to leverage fiscal and regulatory incentives available in the export processing zone, enabling enhanced operational efficiency and cost savings.
The company’s expansion is expected to unlock new revenue streams by tapping into the underexploited halal meat supply chain, with a specific focus on value-added products. TOMCL plans to broaden its export base beyond traditional meat cuts, positioning Pakistan as a key player in the global halal-certified protein market.
TOMCL’s long-term strategy includes becoming a fully integrated halal meat and by-product company, scaling its capabilities, and pioneering new opportunities for Pakistan’s meat export industry. With this new facility, the company aims to strengthen its footprint in the global meat market while adhering to its sustainability objectives.
This move is in line with TOMCL’s broader goal of enhancing the country’s export potential in the meat sector, positioning Pakistan as a reliable source of premium halal products in international markets.
