Wateen Telecom Ltd, a major ICT and connectivity solutions provider, has successfully renewed its Long Distance International (LDI) licence for another 20 years. As per reports, the renewal comes after the company resolved a longstanding dispute with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) regarding the Access Promotion Contribution (APC) associated with the Universal Service Fund (USF).
The dispute was formally settled through a Sindh High Court order on October 22, which was endorsed by both the PTA and the Ministry of IT and Telecom. Despite this resolution, several other LDI operators are still involved in similar APC-related disputes, which have led to delays in their licence renewals.
